European Investment Bank (EIB) and Montenegro have signed a contract on load of EUR 27 million for the system of solid waste management in Podgorica. The 1st phase of creating the national system of solid waste management will be financed with the loan, which will be financed, realized through the Ministry for spatial planning, in accordance with the EU standards, claims the creditor. Overall worth of the project which includes the building of a recycling plant, rearrangement of 30 waste deposits, and reaches EUR 54 million. Funds from the loan of EIB will contribute to creation of the National System of solid waste management of Montenegro and to decreasing of pollution of water and ground. The Approval of the loan indicates to the importance the EIB gives to investments in ecology, particularly in the countries which are potential candidates for the EU. EIB has approved around EUR 200 million credits to Montenegro since 2002, when it started the activities in that country.
