Predstavnici Vlade Srbije i čeških kompanije Alta i VDO potpisali su izjavu o poslovnoj i tehničkoj saradnji i investiciji od 650 miliona evra. Ova češka firma uložiće novac u rudnik uglja i termoelektranu Štavalj, kod Sjenice. Ministar za infrastrukturu i energetiku Srbije Milutin Mrkonjić kazao je prilikom potpisivanja izjave u Vladi Srbije da se radi o projektu otvaranja rudnika lignita i gradnji termoelektrane snage 350 megavata.
On je najavio je da će do završetka tog projekta biti izgrađen i autoput na koridoru 11, od Beograda do Bara. "Ta dva projekta su povezana jer je jedan bez drugog nemoguć", kazao je Mrkonjić.
Državni sekretar za energetiku Srbije Dušan Mrakić kazao je da izgradnja jednog bloka termoelektrane traje od tri do pet godina i dodao da projekat u Štavlju podrazumeva i rekonstrukciju i privatizaciju rudnika uglja i izgradnju jednog bloka termoelektrane, koja traje do tri do pet godina.
